Studio J

Have you ever tried scrapbooking without printing your photos?  You can do that as simple as playing with Studio J.  You upload your photos, pick a paper pack and a layout, and then begin playing.  It truly is that simple.  I am really loving how simple and fast Studio J is making my scrapbooking.  This will never replace my classic paper, scissors, and adhesive way of preserving my memories.  But it is a quick way to get caught up on all of those photos sitting in my computer.  Click on the link below to watch a short how to video on Studio J.  Then go try it out on my website.  Call me if you have any questions or leave a comment.

Digital vs Classic scrapbooking

I was sorting some photos the other day.  While I was sorting I was making a list of what needs to be scrapbooked and what needs to be printed and then scrapbooked.  The list for both was the same length.  So I thought maybe I should do so of my layouts in Studio J

The debate is on!  Which do you prefer, digital scrapbooking or classic paper/glue scrapbooking?  Have your tried digital scrapbooking?  Studio J is so cool!!!!  You can do a full layout in about 10 minutes without any fancy bells and whistles.  But if you want to jazz it up a bit you can.  Then that layout might take about a half hour.  You can go to my website and play around for free.  If you like what you create then you can buy your layout.  After that then you can get a membership to save even more.  Call me to find out about the savings.

Rain, rain, go away

This rain has to go away so day soon.  I am getting really tired of it.  The only good thing about it is that when it rain, then I sit and scrapbook.  Here is a layout that is made for those rainy days of spring and blooming flowers to come.  This layout will be taught at Biggby next month, June 16th.  Call me to reserve your spot!

Simple notecard tutorial

This year I made my sister-in-law, Bridget, a set of "Thank you" notecards for Mother's Day.  We don't normally exchange gifts but she has been having a rough month or so.  So I wanted her to know that I was thinking of her.  While I was designing her notecards, I thought these would be great to show you.  I started with simple note cards from Martha Stewart.  I have had them in my supplies for awhile and needed to get them out of the pile.  Then I used one of my past favorite papers "Veranda" from Close to My Heart.  It is retired now.  But I know Bridget wouldn't mind this at all!

Let me show you step by step now:

Cut the Veranda flourish paper 3 1/2" x 4 1/2", Veranda stripe 3/4" x 4 1/2".
Stamp "Thinking of You" message in Juniper ink on Colonial white cardstock and stamp "Thank you" message in Hollyhock ink on Colonial white cardstock, from the set called: Salutation Seals (C1461)
Color in the dots on the "Thinking of You" message in Hollyhock marker.
Punch both messages out with the 1 1/4" circle punch and 2" scallop punch from Close to My Heart.

Attach the paper to the front of the notecard.

Attach the "Thinking of You" message to the right side of the notecard.

Adhere the Hollyhock "Thank You" message over the juniper message.

Now you are all done.  Stamp something cute on the front of the envelope to finish off the project.  Who will you make something for to let them know you are thinking of them today?

Happy Mother's Day

I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to my mom, grandmother, aunts, and sister-in-laws, and my cousins.  Also Happy Mother's Day to all of my wonderful customers.  I hope your day was filled with many cherished memories.

This year I am so grateful for family.  While we were at my mom's having brunch, my brother found some old photo albums.  We all sat around looking through them remembering the goods.  It was hard to look at pictures of my grandma when she was very healthy.  Some of these photos were of family that have already passed.  We shared stories about them.  This was such a fantastic Mother's Day this year because of this great experience.

Keep checking this week because I will be posting a new tutorial and some photos of a few projects I made with the "You and Me" kit.
Hugs, Holly

I am getting ready for the Biggby card class that will be tomorrow night at 6:30 PM.  We will be making a Mother's Day and Father's Day card.  I think this will be our largest class to date.  We have 24 ladies coming to make their cards.  If you haven't come to a class yet, you are missing so much fun!!!!  We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30-8:30.  Each month is a different theme, but they are always on display at the Allen Park Biggby Coffee Shop.

Next month we will be making Graduation cards.  You will have to wait to see those pictures because I show the ladies at class get first look at the new class before I release the pictures to anyone else.  Maybe I will see you at a class sometime soon.
