I received an email from the corporate office at Close to My Heart that one of my layouts that was saved in Studio J would be gone in 14 days. I thought, which one and that I better go check. It was a layout I had created awhile ago about some of my favorite art pieces I had created and made a Studio J layout with them. Then I started to play around in Studio J and before I knew it I had 11 more layouts done. So I placed my order just a little bit ago for all 12 layouts. The best part was I received free shipping, 12 page protectors for free also, and free jPEGs of my layouts. I am going to share with you my layouts that I created in just a few hours. I sure feel good about getting a little bit caught up on my scrapbooking.

These new springs are sooo much fun to use. They give the best surprise ever, inside your card. What will you use the springs for, on your next project.

Here is a card I made using "Card Word Puzzle", "My Peeps", and the new springs. The paper is one of the new packs. It is called Lucy. You can get all of them at my website from Close to My heart.

The "Springtime" says is on the spring for the extra little bounce it needs for the greeting.

Have you ever thought what do I get for hosting a home gathering with me and Close to My Heart? Well let me tell you. First, we will have a ton of fun playing with new paper and stamps. Second, you will help guide me in designing your project that we will do. Maybe you like scrapbook layouts or cards or fun 3-D boxes, let me help you. Last weekend I had my Open House. The boxes were delivered and I unpacked all four of them. There were 105 stamp sets, 35 paper packs, and loads of embellishments and other items. Here are 2 photos from the boxes.

Spring Biggby Classes

The next Biggby card class has been designed. We will be making an Easter card, a mini Easter basket, and a bonus card, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. You will need to be registered and prepaid by Monday, February 27th. Class fees are $5.00 for all three projects.

The supplies you will need to bring to class are: watercolored pencils, blending pen, scissors, adhesive, foam tape, and glue dots. This is going to be a fun class.

The March Biggby scrapbook class has been designed also. The theme for the scrapbook class is "Disney". If you are interested in joining me for this fun class, please be registered and prepaid by Monday, March 12th. Class will meet on Thursday, March 15th. If you want to add a little extra bling to your project then you will want to be prepaid and registered by Monday, February 27th. The fees for this class are: basic kit $10.00 or the bling kit $13.50.

To my "Peeps"

When I was playing with the new Lucy paper, I envisioned a soft floral card. This card began to grow as I was working with the paper and the new stamps. For the outside of the card I used a stripe of paper from Lucy, some sheer colonial white ribbon, and then the flower stamp from Card Word Puzzle. The ink I used was cotton candy, baby pink, and a hint of pear. All of the ink was put on with a blending pen. After I stamped and colored 3 roses, I cut apart 2 of them and layered with foam tape.

The inside of the card I stamped with saying "Spring Time" in pear and then used one of the new springs from Close to My Heart. The saying is from the set called "My Peeps". This is one of my new favorites because of the bunny peep that comes with it.

Yesterday, I posted my version of Mojo Monday and asked for others to give it a try. As I was sitting in a meeting today, I received a text message from a dear friend, Patti. She played with the design. Her card is so stinkin' cute. Patti used the retired Hooligans paper and sorbet ribbon. Here is her darling card. Mojo Monday #227

This week's sketch from Mojo Monday is awesome. When I saw it, the plan came together quickly in my head. The hardest part of this design was deciding which paper I was going to use. The stamps were easy to pick, since I knew I was going to use this card for an upcoming swap.

My card uses the retired paper from "Splendor", heavenly blue cardstock, colonial white cardstock, and retired star spangle blue cardstock. Then I used a desert sand ribbon, clear sparkles, and a butterfly. The stamp sets I used are Card Chatter-Birthday and Card Word Puzzle.

Mojo Monday on Sunday...

Have you ever tried any of the sketches from Mojo Monday? These are so much fun and allows your creative side to come out. This past Monday was to decide if you wanted to make a circle card or a square card. I chose to do a 5 x 5 square card. I used the new Pemberly paper, honey ribbon and buttons, with a hint of clear sparkles and the March Stamp of the Month. The ink colors are bamboo, moonstruck, and honey.

My card is a bit different than the sketch, but that is the beauty of using my own creative juices.

February Stamp of the Month

February Changes

I love February. During this month my family celebrates my Grandfather's birthday and a few of my cousins will celebrate their birthdays as well. Valentine's day is in the month of February. The best part about this month is that the new Close to My Heart Idea Book is finally out for all to see!

Stamp Fairy Presents

When getting my house ready for the mini 8 hour crops, I think about where the ladies will sit, what they will eat for dinner, what little prizes I can give, what big prizes will be at the end of the evening, what techniques I will teach, and the most important to me is what stamp fairy presents I will create for the ladies. Each crop I make 3 "Stamp Fairy Presents" to give during the day. Each present has Close to My Heart paper and something is stamped on it somewhere and best of all the presents are Close to My Heart products and chocolate of some kind.
This crop I went with a chocolate theme. The little chinese takeout box has chocolate mints inside. I used the "Wonderland paper" for the box and the stamp is from the December Stamp of the Month. The rub-ons are chocolate. The topper is made from the retired "Twitterpated paper" and I used the upcoming April Stamp of the Month. The heart shaped box is made with "Cocoa paper" and I stamped the center using the upcoming March Stamp of the Month. Inside the is a mini stampset.

Sneak Peek #3

Are you liking the little sneak peeks I am giving you this week? Today I am going to share with you another project that could be done at a home gathering. Wouldn't this be fun to do with your friends and family. I may even use this project for the Februay 18th Open House. I am just not sure if I like this project better than the one from yesterday.

Today's gift card holder uses the new "Lucy" paper pack, "Just for you" stamp set, desert sand, cotton candy, and blush ink, a chocolate button, clear sparkle, and ribbon from the pink collection. The flower is cut from the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge.

This is the inside of the holder. I used the "Lucy" workshop on the go stamp set, hollyhock bitty brads, grey wool, blush, hollyhock, creme brulee ink, and sweet leaf and creme brulee cardstock. The gift card would be placed on the sweet leaf card stock, under the little flap that is created from the brads. You would write your message on the creme brulee cardstock that is tucked in the bag pocket.

Sneak Peek #2

Today I am going to share with you a gift card holder. I am thinking about making this my project for the February 18th Open House. What do you think????

This gift card holder is used with the new Florentine paper pack, a banner from the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge, sweet leaf ribbon, "A Garden" stamp set and new bitty pearls.

This is the inside of the holder. I used Bamboo cardstock and stamped the message from "A Garden" using desert sand ink. Everything has been edged in desert sand. The gift card would go into the top part (white).

This is a super fun project. I would love to make it with you at the Open House and at your next home gathering. You can choose from any of the 8 new paper packs: Lucy, Cruisin', Florentine, Stella, Footloose, Superhero, Pemberly, and Victory.

Wedding Shower Favors

My cousin, Lynn, from California got engaged just before Christmas. The whole family is so excited for her and Ike. The wedding will be here in Michigan this coming July. We are planning a spring shower for April 1st. I am planningn on making the shower favors for her. I will be making 60 pillow boxes with a paper rose on each. We will be filling them with tea bags for the adult ladies and M & M's for the little girls that will be coming.

I used the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge for the pillow box and the rose and Sophia paper from last spring's ida book.
The boxes are cut at 5 1/2" on the cricut in daisy white.
The roses are cut at 3" on the cricut in blush.
The belly bands (Sophia paper) is at 3" x 7".
The last step was to add stardust glitz on the roses.

My work space

Today I decided to clean up my craft space. It was a mess! There were projects all over the floor, on my desk, behind my desk, and just everywhere. My craft space is in the corner of our bedroom. It is not a large space at all. I do wish I had my own room, but some day I will. Here are a few pictures of the before I cleaned the mess.

After many hours and two bags of trash. Here is the new and improved clean work space. I hope I will have some good creative juices flowing from this neat area. I decided to turn my table around to see if this will give me more space. I will have let you know how it goes.

Happy New Year!!!!

First I would like to wish all of you a very Happy New Year that will be filled with good health and fortune. Do you make New Year's Resolutions? It seems like I make them and in about 6 weeks to 4 months I have fallen off the wagon. Maybe it is because I need more time in my day or the resolution loses its steam in my life. Any reason I am going to announce it here, so maybe my readers will keep me from falling off the wagon. My 2012, New Year's Resolutions are: become healthier by exercising and drinking more water, find the positive in my daily life, design more projects to post here, and really work my business. Now that I have made this known, please help me to keep to my resolutions.

Merry Christmas

I would love to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year! With these two days being filled with family and friends, I am ever so grateful. Traditions in our family are priceless. We go to the children's mass for 4:00 and then head over to my Aunt and Uncle's house for the traditional Italian fish dinner. Then all of the kids open their presents. We of course eat way to much and just sit to visit with each other. Tomorrow morning usually starts early with a visit from Santa and breakfast with my parents and father-in-law. Then head back over to my Aunt and Uncle's house again for a super yummy pasta dish. Remember to take pictures and preserve the moments so they don't become lost memories.

Just one week till Christmas, I can't believe it. There is so much to get done before Saturday evening. The traditions of having fish for dinner on Christmas Eve and some type of pasta on Christmas. But before I can enjoy those yummy dinners, I need to get other Christmas chores done:
1. Mail the Christmas Cards
2. Finish shopping
3. Wrap the presents
4. Make my 'holly wreath" cookies
5. Plan Christmas morning breakfast

What are some of your Christmas traditions and chores before the traditions can begin? The 5th. person who tells me their Christmas traditions I will have a surprise for you.

Mad About You...December Stamp of the Month

After playing around with the new Stamp of the Month for December, I am very pleased with it. At first I thought it would be just for Valentine's Day layouts and cards. Well, to my surprise it really is perfect for all things "Love". The sentiments on it is awesome: "Mad About You", "You're Sweet", "I Love You", "Love to Love You", "Over the Moon in Love with You", and of course "Happy Valentine's Day". Can't you see layouts for weddings, births, and that special someone.

For the Artboard this month I am using Roxie and a little bit of Elemental paper, Ink colors: Smoothie, Cocoa, and Tulip, sparkles, silver glitz, and Stamps: Bohemian Alphabet and Mad About You. I have been super busy all weekend long getting the Christmas decorations up in the house. Yesterday my mom, son, and I went to the Festival of the Trees in Dearborn. There were some very pretty trees this year. I enjoy going so I can get inspired to decorate my tree differently each year. Here is the Cat in the Hat tree. It was super cute!

This year I decided to not use ribbon on my tree but to add all kinds of floral pix at the top around my star. I am quite happy with the results. My tree is very traditional in colors: red, green, white, and gold. My ornaments are stars, holly, santas, snowmen, and the snowflakes.

Mini Crops are a lot of Fun!!!!!

This past Saturday, November 12, was the mini 8 hour crop at my house. We had so much fun!!!!!! Dinner was yummy :) And the stamp fairy came for a visit again 3 times. She really likes to make visits at the crops. During the ladies worked on their crafts. Some worked on Christmas cards, some worked on Christmas tags, while others worked on scrapbook layouts or making mini books for Disney and the Wizard of Oz.

Linda learned how to stamp pretty ballet slippers on her daughter's dance pages.

Linda, Emily, Katie, and Stephanie all took a quick break for the camera from their scrapbooking.

Meghan, Mandi, Lori, and Anne were busy Christmas elves making cards and tags when I caught them with my camera.

Thanks ladies for another wonderful day of food, fun, and laughs. I am looking forward to the next 2 in January. There is only one spot left for January 21st. If you are interested let me know as soon as possible.

Our next scrapbook class at the Allen Park Biggby coffee shop will be on Thursday, November 17th. We will be creating a layout designed for our family. You will be able to personalize the title just a bit by changing the number to represent the number of members in your family. The colors we will be using are warm and rich: chocolate, dutch blue, and buttercup with a hint of cranberry. Happy Halloween to all of you!!!!! I hope you are taking pictures of your little or big trick or treaters. This year we tried Trunk n' Treat for the first time. It was so much fun :) A nice safe environment for the kids to trick or treat while the adults supervised from a not so far distance. Tomorrow will be the big day. Make sure you preserve your memories from carving the pumpkin to getting dressed to all of the fun of the begging.

Regionals Scrapbook layouts

When you go to a corporate event, you leave with a sense of renewal for both your business and yourself. This Regionals experience was no different. The corporate staff truly treated us well. The business classes were wonderful and the art classes were out of this world. The next set of artwork I am going to share with you are the scrapbook layouts we created.

The supplies were given from corporate as part of our fees for the two days. The awesome corporate staff had everything cut for us, for these 2 layouts. That was so nice of them!!!

The items we used were: Elemental paper and Sonoma paper, Pewter mini medlies, Mileposts shapes, Cranberry ribbon collections, Bronze glitz glue, stamp sets: Love Life, Happy Cluster, and Hooray Bouquet, and the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. Cards from Regionals

During the Regional Celebration, corporate designed projects for us to make. This is another reason I love being a consultant. The projects at the events are so wonderful!!!! The second best part is that all of the parts are cut for us...no cutting by me. :) On Friday, we made 8 standard cards (2 of each design) and then in the evening we made a different 4 using the 6x6 Kraft cards. That is 12 total. These are beautiful! Let me know what you think of them.

Operation Smile Auction Winner!!!!

Last night at the Close to My Heart's Regional Celebration, they had put out some items the staff was going to auction off at the end of the event. I had spotted the 6 handmade cards from the art department, and knew I wanted them. When it was time for the bidding, I paid close attention to items and what they were going for. Then my six art department cards came up. I wanted them! There was a small bidding war over the cards...but I finally won them :) My final bid was $45.00 for these beauties! So worth it and so great for the children that we will be helping. Our Regional Celebration raised over $2300. That is almost 10 surgeries.

The leaves are turning their golden brown colors and starting to fall down. The morning air is crispy and cool. And all of this means just one thing...Fall is here. I do like the fall season for the beautiful colors, fun activities, and the yummy foods that we eat. Are you taking pictures at events and outings? Trying Studio J

Have you really tried Studio J yet? I know some of you are not digital scrapbookers. I prefer the classic but I am personally behind and with Regionals coming soon, the corporate office had us do 5 layouts in Studio J for one of our classes. This really helped me to see the power behind it. I will still do classic scrapbooking for many of my layout but I will for sure be building Studio J into my routine.
I have heard many things like..."I don't have time to scrapbook or It's too mess or It's too expensive or You have to be super creative to scrapbook." Well I have a solution for all of those excuses...Studio J. Here are the 5 layouts we had to do for the upcoming Regional Convention. My favorite ones are the first, second and last ones. I love how they turned out and the techniques on them were very cool to learn. Call me today to set up an appointment to learn more about Studio J.

You can come to a class designed to make birthday cards for the girls in your life on October 6th. at the Allen Park, Biggby. Mini 8 Hour Crop

This past Saturday was the first new mini 8 hour crop. It is a new way of how I will be doing the crops. There have been some scheduling issues with my previous place, so I am going to give this a try. Saturday was a super fun day! The ladies said they felt they got more done and had more of my attention. I will have to say I even enjoyed it :)

The ladies arrived at 2:30 and the fun began at 3:00. We had dinner around 6:15. I made sloppy joes, cheesy potatoes, and a tossed salad. During the evening the stamp fairy arrived 3 times with presents and there were 2 little prizes also. Later in the evening we had 2 bigger prizes for the ladies.

Each lady worked on different projects. Arleen worked on Christmas cards. Lori worked on Halloween cards. Mandi scrapbooked her trip to Portland, Oregon and her dogs. Meghan scrapped pictures of her boyfriend and events from the past few months that they have done. Sandy worked on scrapping pictures of her grandkids. Teri continued to work on her scrapbook for a niece that just got married. Patti worked on scrapping her grandsons. Sue did some cards and then played with the cricut and made some pillow boxes for gift cards for the holidays. I would say they were busy.

The next crop will be on Saturday, November 12 at 2:00-10:00 pm. The cost is $25.00. This include your dinner. A $10.00 deposit is required but is nonrefundable and nontransferable. Your balance of $15.00 will be due by November 3, 2011.

I hope you will give this new way of cropping with your friends a try. Space is limited to only 8. The November 12 date has only 7 spots remaining. We will have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!

Dreamin' cards...

The Dreamin' Workshop on the Go just keeps going. After both layouts were completed, I moved onto making the suggested cards. These cards aren't just regular, ordinary cards. They are circle cards!!!! These were so stinkin' fun to make :) For these cards you get to use the new bronze glitz, the new wide chocolate stripe ribbon, and the big glitter brads.

Dreamin' of the joys of fall

When you think of the Fall season, what colors come to mind? I think of rich colors like goldrush, honey, pacifica, chocolate, and crystal blue. These colors come in the Dreamin' paperpack. When I saw this paper pack in the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea book, I fell in love with it. The colors are so rich and beautiful. I would have to say that Dreamin' is my favorite in the book. I completed the Workshop on the Go layout quickly because I had the perfect pictures in mind for it. These photos are from when Nathan was in Kindergarten and he loved to help rake the leaves in the front yard. There are 2 parts to this workshop on the go that make it my favorite: 1.) the new bronze glitz and 2.) the dandelion stamp. I just love that stamp. What do you think of it? Sonoma cards

I can't believe how much you can make out of the new paper packs. The Sonoma paper pack is very lovely! I used the new Kraft scallop 6x6 cards and the Sonoma workshop on the go for the following cards. These were so stinkin' easy to make and turned out so beautiful :) After I was done with them I showed them to my mom and she was ready to take them all, but I had to stop her until I could photograph them for all of you.

Again after I was done with the main layout from the Sonoma Workshop on the Go I decided to make the secondary layout from the workshop. This layout idea photos were themed toward family ties. I couldn't put my fingers on any photos at the time, so I decided I would use pictures from my mom's Allen Park garden walk a few years ago. I think this layout truly lent itself to these pictures. I used all of the same supplies as I did from the main layout.

Sonoma

What do you get when you add the colors of Petal and Olive together? You get the next beautiful paper pack called Sonoma. This pack is rich in color and is perfect for weddings all the way to flowering gardens. I can even see it being used for heritage layouts and all the way to masculine cards. The accessories in the Workshop on the Go are the mini medley pewter collection. They are beautiful!!!! This was actually the first workshop on the go for the new autumn/winter 2011 idea book, I worked on. Again I was truly surprised at how much supplies I had left over after completing the main project and the secondary project and the bonus project.
Today I will share the main layout project with you. I scrapbooked photos from my cousin Jeff and Andrea's wedding from 2007. The alphabet set that I used for the title is the Bohemian.

Elemental Board Book...Bonus Project

I have had the Close to My Heart board book for about a year now. When I sat down to work on the Elemental Workshop on the Go and saw the bonus project was the board book, I was very excited. This was now my chance to use it. I completed the main project. Then the second layout. Finally I got started with the board book. I was thrilled that the directions called for using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

The book came together quickly. Once I had the book done, then I needed to decide what photos to put in it. So I used photos from when Nathan was in Kindergarten...Mom/Son dance, Storybook Ball, Monster trucks at the Detroit Science Center, and other great memories from that great year of his life.

It's still Elemental...

After I had finished working on the main project from the Elemental Workshop on the Go, I made the extra layout. This one also uses the new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Have I told you how much I love this cartridge???? If I haven't yet, I love it!!!!!!
Once I finished the extra layout I still had enough supplies to do the bonus board book project. I will show you that tomorrow.

The photos I used for this layout are all from when Nathan was under a year old. Isn't he cute??? This layout came together very quickly. All I have left to do is my journaling. That will go into the sorbet piece on the right.

It's all Elemental...

The new Elemental paper pack is gorgeous! The colors in it are perfect for girls or boys, for spring, summer, fall, or winter, for all occasions, and you can even use it for sports pictures. I have put together the full Elemental Workshop on the Go and still had paper and embellishments leftover for other projects. Close to My Heart has really thought out these kits well!

This is the featured layout in the Workshop on the Go. You will be using the new Cricut Art Philosophy cricut to make the scallop circle, the stamped heart, and the rolled flowers on the layout. Needing a job...I have one for you

I love being a consultant with Close to My Heart. This has been the best 3 years I have had!!!! I get to play with paper, inks, stamps, and markers. Who could ask for a better job than that? When I first signed up, I was only going to do this for about 6 months and see if I liked it. Well, I loved it and I have stopped yet. My business has been able to do things for my family that wouldn't have been possible in the normal family budget. I pay the annual dues for the pool club. Also I have taken my husband and son on 2 vacations. One to Washington DC and one to sunny California at Disneyland. I feel so good about being able to give this extra experience to my family.
Close to My Heart has many opportunities for learning. If you are saying you are not creative or business savy. They have a training academy with courses that help you through many areas of the business world. Also my upline, Dana, does unit meetings 3-4 times a year. We get together for the business part and a creative part during these meetings. She hands out ribbons for your sales. Annually she does big awards, just like corporate. It truly rewards you for your hard work. This year I earned 3 big annual awards:

Pair-A-Phrase

Did you know that the month of September is National Stamping Month? Doesn't that sound fun!!! The super special is still going on with Close to My Heart for the month of September in celebration. It has images for the full year and warm-hearted sentiments.

I was playing with my set the other day and I can see so many possibilities in this set for both the card maker and the scrapbooker. The owl, snowman, and bike are my favorite images on this set. I am also lovin' the wording that goes with the images.

I can't believe it is September already. Where did the summer go? I am not ready for the fall weather and the fall activities to begin. Okay maybe I am ready for a little bit of college football and a little cooler weather to be able to justify sitting at my craft table. But that is it. Nothing else!

Last weekend I worked on designing the artboard with the September stamp of the month. It is called "Limited Edition". This set has some images, sayings, and 2 tags that work with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. It was a very fun set to work with. I made 3 cards and a scrapbook layout. Working on the art...

I know I haven't posted many creative projects in the past few days but I have been super busy creating the new Workshop on the Goes. So far I have Sonoma, Wonderland, Elemental, and Dreamin' all complete. I just need to photograph them. I also was able to create some cards and a scrapbook layout using the September stamp of the month. That will be posted this week. I am currently working on upcoming Biggby card classes for November and December. So you may want to stay tuned for the art to be coming this week.

Life is a Zoo...

When was the last time you took your family to the zoo? What do you like about the zoo? I enjoy the polar bears and watching the monkeys. Do you have pictures from the zoo laying around your house? Well, I have a layout for you then. On September 15th., at the Allen Park Biggby coffee shop we will be making this darling "Don't Feed the Animals" layout. This class is limited to 12, sorry! You will need to be registered and prepaid ($10.00) by Monday, September 12th.

This layout uses now retired Animal Cookie paper from Close to My Heart. We will be using the new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge from Close to My Heart. Supplies you will need for class will be scissors, adhesive, foam tape, and colored pencils. I hope to see you in class soon!!!!

Sympathy Cards

I have always had a hard time designing a card to send to a friend when they have had someone pass away. Do you experience this challenge? We don't like to send store bought cards and handmade cards do take time to make. We know we need to send or give a card. So what is the solution. I have the answer. Join me next week on Thursday for class at the Allen Park Biggby coffee shop card class. We will be making 2 sympathy cards. The only stipulation is you must be register and prepaid ($5.00) by Tuesday, Aug. 30 for class. I cut everything we need and you simply show up with you class supplies. The supplies you will need are: scissors, adhesive, and glue dots.

Pretty Storage

Where do you put your pretty handmade cards? Do you just put them in a box or a drawer? I have a solution for you. How about making a pretty card box to hold them? Close to My Heart has 2 different types of boxes that you can decorate for any occasion or theme you would like.

This first card box measures 6 3/8" x 2 1/8" x 4 3/8". It is made of a heavy-duty chipboard with a magnetic closure. You can store a few standard size or smaller cards in it. I decorated this box in the new "Dreamin'" paper pack, honey mini medley accent collection, and "Remarkable Wreath" (c1473) stamp set.

This second card box measures 6 3/8" x 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" and is also made from sturdy chipboard with a magnetic closure. The box is perfect for photos, recipes, or cards that are 4 x 6. I decorated this box using the now retired "Sweetheart" paper pack, pink collection ribbon, cream pearl opaques., and "Polka Dot Alphabet" (d1469) stamp set.

Mini cards are so much fun

Have you ever sat down with scraps of paper and a few left over embellishments and thought to yourself, "What am I going to do with these?" I am going to tell you what you are going to do with those. You are going to make some mini 3 x 3 cards. These cards are perfect for those gifts that you put into bags. These cards finish up the scraps and you don't feel guilty about it at all.

When I was at convention back in July, this was one of our creative classes. I fell in love with the idea of using up the left over stuff I had lying around my craft studio. Granted corporate cut everything for me but on a normal basis I would have all of these little 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 scraps here. So what mini cards are you going to create today? We could even do a few mini cards at your next home gathering!!! Wouldn't that be fun?

A special treat for you...

     After I had gone out to lunch with my dad today. We sat down to look at my camera, to see why some of my photos are so blurry. Well, come to find out there is a button that you can turn on called "macro". So we turned it on and now my pictures are so much clearer and better. Thanks dad!

     Yesterday, during the wonderful rainy day we had, I was working on designing for an upcoming party for my friend Patti. She decided she would like to have her guests make something 3-D and a card.   I got to work right away on the paper flying around my studio and the cricut machine making its wonderful buzzing noise. Such a great day! Thanks Patti!

      This is the project I designed for her party. We will be making both the card and the pillow box with the rose. I used the new "Cricut Art Philosophy" cartridge, grey wool and sunset cardstock, Mischief paperpack, Wicked and All Hallows Eve stamp sets, and the ink is black, grey wool, grey flannel, and barn red, and with a little bit of glitz on the witch's shoes for that added sparle.

The final card that I design for our unit swap is a Christmas card. Christmas cards are my favorite to make!! I already have mine made for this year :) Woo Hoo!!!! When you send out 50-80 cards you need to get started early. Actually I had them made last year but ended up sending out special ones that Nathan had designed from a school contest.

This card uses paper from the "Believe" paper pack and the stamp from the "Believe" workshop on the go. I just fell in the love the Santa. He is so jolly and fat, I knew I had to use him for one of my swaps. I stamped santa in black onto a piece of sky blue paper. Then colored his suit in holiday red with topiary gloves. Then I followed up with using liquid applique to make his beard and suit fluffy looking. The cardstock behind the sky blue piece is topiary green and the holiday red plaid is from the "Believe" paperpack.
What do you think about this card? Isn't he the jolliest santa you have seen? Let me know if you want to get him too!!!

Along came a spider...

The third card for our unit swap I designed is a Halloween card. I was planning on having this card a tutorial for you but the photos are very blurry and not a great quality. So I will have to plan another one for next week instead. This card was a simple design from "Wishes". I truly love that book for my ideas.
The paper I used is the new "Mischief" B&T, Bamboo and Grey Wool cardstock. The stamp set is called "All Hallows Eve". The ink colors are grey flannel, grey wool, black, and barn red. I think I really like how it turned out!!! Nice and Spooky :)

For a Special Teacher Card...

When I was designing the next card for our unit's new idea book swap I fell in love with the stamp from set for the "Cricut" bundle that had the "For a Special..." on it. You could pick if it was for a teacher, friend, mom, dad, brother, or sister. I chose to make this card for a special teacher. There are many special teachers out there in the world that don't get recognized for all of there hard work and dedication to our children. So I paired the stamp up with the new paper collection from the Typeset paperpack from Close to My Heart.
I normally stamp my images onto daisy white or colonial white cardstock. This time I stamped onto bamboo cardstock using vineyard berry ink. Boy was I happy! Between using the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and the stampset I am so pleased with this card. I just might be sending a few out to some of my teacher friends this year. Or maybe to some of Nathan's teachers if he doesn't think that it is too corny for middle schoolers to do this.

I designed this card for our unit card swap by looking at "Wishes". The card pattern was origanally set for a larger card but a scaled it down to fit a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" standard card. The paper used for this card was the new "Wonderland". The colors in this paperpack are amazing: chocolate, crystal blue, grey flannel, heavenly blue, twilight, white daisy, and believe it or not spring iris!!!! The stamp is from one of the stamps that come from the "Cricut" collection. The final touch is a little bit of bling with a sparkle added in the corner. So what do you think of this card??

Wicked Artwork

After finally sitting down to play today, I am a happy, happy, happy camper. Or should I say crafter! Anyways, I have been working on my art board for the August Stamp of the Month. It was so much fun to create these great projects. I made 3 cards and a scrapbook layout using the stamp set called "Wicked". You can order it only during the month of August for $17.95 or spend $50 and get it for $5.

I also used paper from the Mischief paper pack and the ink colors are grey flannel, bamboo, sunset, grey wool, black, honey, and barn red.

When my friends Patti and Sue were over last night we were talking about the August stamp of the month. They were saying that they thought it was a nice stamp but really you only could use it for just Halloween. We looked at the verbage on it "Hats off to you" and "Put your best foot forward" and decided that really you could use it for other types of cards such as (getting a new job, congratulations, graduation, or encouragement). There were also some images that could be used throughout the year, such as the honeycomb, the cat, and the border.

A mini card 2" x 3 1/4"

The yellow card is 5" x 6 1/2"(cricut used) and the witchy card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

The left side of the scrapbook layout shows the double circles from the "Cricut".

The right side of the scrapbook layout and uses another part from the "Cricut".

Maybe tomorrow I will share with you one of my swaps from the new Idea book. I am in 4 rounds. We will see what tomorrow will bring and what creating still is to come tonight!!!!!

Now that I am finally home from our mini family vacation at Disneyland,California, Convention and our other family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida I think I better get to work on playing with some of those new stamps and paper from Close to My Heart that are featured in the Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book. The first big box arrived just one day before we left for Florida so I really didn't have time to play. But now that I am home and I have cleaned my craft space I am READY!!!!!!! I just don't know where to begin. Should I start with artwork for the 6 new Stamp of the Months or begin on the 8 new Workshop on the Goes or just a free-for-all. Well, later today will be the test. So drop me a line and tell me the direction you think I should go. I know you are excited to see some new artwork too!!!!

Vacations

Vacations are great but they are alot of work. We will be heading home in the early morning hours from Panama City Beach, Florida back to good old Allen Park, Michigan. I wish I could put rockets on the van to make it move quicker so it won't take 16-18 hours. But while we are in the van I will be working on my 4 rounds of card swaps and the new Idea Bookplates. Are you ready for yours?????

Speaking of vacations, the layout for August at Biggby will be a vacation inspired one. Please make sure you are sign up and prepaid by Monday, August 15 and class will be on Thursday, Aug. 18th. Supplies you will need to bring to class will be: scissors, adhesive, foam tape, colored pencils, and a brayer (if you have one). See you in class.

Birthday Boys

Making cards for girls is always easy to do. But designing cards for boys is hard too do until now. On August 11th. I will be holding my monthly card class at the Allen Park Biggby coffee shop. If you are interested in class you do need to sign up and prepay $5 for class by Monday, August 8th. You can either sign up at the shop, call me, email me, or send your payment snail mail. We always have so much fun in class. We will make one of each card: one car and one pirate. Supplies you will need to bring micro-tip scissors, markers, adhesive, foam tape, and glue dots.

Convention projects and pictures

I thought I would share some more pictures with you from convention, since I took about 600. My husband would say this is crazy but I think he took more than me for the 4 days that him and Nathan were there with me. The first four days in sunny California was my family vacation. We did Disneyland, Legoland, California Adventure, and shopping in Downtown Disney. Then on Tuesday my family went home and I just relaxed by the pool. I know rough life! Wednesday-Saturday was convention :) Super fun times with my friends and my CTMH sisters!!!!! Corporate really knows how to through a great party for us.

Have you ever used ribbon on a card? Do you know how to use ribbon on a card? These 2 samples are from the recent Biggby wedding card class we had. The pink ribbon is the main focus as the punch of color for this card. On the second card, the ivory ribbon is used just as the accent part. How do you use your ribbon on your cards? Let me know!

Team Surprise Pins

This year I thought I would make a special pins for each lady that was going to Convention. So I thought and planned and designed for a while for the perfect pin that would be pink and would represent Disney. I decided to use the backside of Sweetheart B&T. The Minnie Mouse ears are made with circle stamps from various stamp sets. The ink colors are black and cotton candy. Of course I needed to add some bling, so I used glitz to add the sparkle in the crown. I hope you and my team like it. I even made one for Jeanette Lynton.

New Studio J Layout

I was playing with my Studio J membership the other day. I created several layouts in about an hour. I thought, "Hey, this is so easy!" Here is the layout from Nate's first day of 5th. grade. Pictures were taken August, 2010. Now I am ready for the First Day of School this coming year.

While looking over the agenda for convention I noticed that there will be a few classes on Studio J. YEAH!!!! I want to learn how to do more. Maybe if I learn more then I will be able to show you how fun and easy it is to use. Today is the last day that you can try Studio J and get your own jpeg for free!

Convention Swap #2

Swapping at convention is huge!!!! Some ladies make 300 of one card. I know I am more realistic. I made 25 of card #1. Then I decided I have time I can make something else. So I made a corner bookmark. I made 25 of this. I used Fanfare paper, the July stamp of the month, some foam tape, and a little bit of glitz.

Once I get home from convention I will put up a tutorial on how easy it is to make these cute corner bookmarks. What do you think of it? Let me know! We could make one at your home gathering :)

Convention Swap #1

Convention and Disneyland is getting closer and closer. Today I am going to share with you one of my swaps that I made. I made 25 of this card to trade with other consultants at convention later in July. I used Sweetheart paper, Circle Together stamp set, the 2" scallop circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, and ink: gyspy and cotton candy, and a scallop punch from fiskar's. I hope other consultants like them and will want to trade with me!!! Would you???

Roommate Gifts

I thought I would share with you over the next few days some of the pretty things I made for Convention. Today I am going to share with you my roommate gifts. Hopefully they won't be looking at my blog over the next 2 weeks.

These started out as a wooden board. I covered each on front and back in different papers: Wings, Sweetheart, Mayberry, and Miracle. Then I used my cricut to cut out the letters for the wording. Lastly I made the scrabby chic flower. I really like how these turned out. I hope they do too! What do you think???

Gearing up...

I have been super busy at my craft table the past few weeks working on swaps for convention, room mate gifts, and a team presents. These are all done!!! :) Then I began the creative process for designing card and scrapbook class for August at Biggby. These are are finally done!!! Now I need to start working on the Christmas in July workshop, but I am having a creative block. Could you please post what you are wanting to get starting creating for Christmas? Would you like cards or tags or a little of each? Let me know!! This needs to get done in the next few days so that the newsletter can go out with the artwork posted.
